Cuisine

At Moorfield House we take great pride in the quality of our cuisine, everything is prepared in house and we endeavour to use local produce and suppliers wherever possible. Our local award winning Butchers make their own Haggis, Black pudding and sausages and also supply our meats; Scottish Beef, Lamb etc. Our fish is sourced from Portsoy on the Moray coast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we endeavour to make it a pleasurable experience. You may like to start with our own Moorfield Muesli, fruit compote with natural yoghurt or porridge, traditionally made with Scottish oatmeal. Perhaps Scrambled Eggs with Locally Smoked Salmon or Egg Benedict Royale is your idea of the perfect start to the day, or grilled Kippers with Poached Egg? For those wanting some thing more, why not try our full Scottish Grill consisting of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, black pudding, tomato and baked beans. To finish it all off, some toast accompanied with some homemade marmalade or preserves such as Strawberry, Raspberry and Redcurrant or tangy Blackcurrant jam. No wonder our guests put so much into their days after having a start like this! Of course, you are able to have as much or as little as you prefer.

Evening meals are prepared and cooked to order, therefore ensuring that the quality and standard that we wish to provide is possible. A set, four course, evening meal is served, the menu being chosen each day to accommodate guests particular dietary likes or dislikes and given enough notice, requested menus for special occasions can be served. Please see the sample menu at the bottom of this page to give an idea of the sort of menu on offer. Puddings are something we take very seriously, from the more modern to the traditional puddings that we all know and love. Evening meals are served at 7.30 pm daily and we request notice of requirement by 10.00 AM please.

At Moorfield House we are licensed to serve alcoholic drinks to our guests. We have a good selection of Speyside single malt whiskies, some of which you may not have discovered before. Our wine list includes wines from France, Australia, South America and Spain. In choosing our wines, we have endeavoured to find wines that offer good value for money, without compromising on quality.

For those of you who do not wish to restrict yourselves to a fixed time to eat or only require a ‘light bite’, there are other establishments locally which offer a wide menu range on a ‘no book’ basis. There are a some in the village, within easy walking distance from Moorfield House and others a short distance away by car.
